Midway-ish

So we’re roughly around the midway point of our crazy Thailand adventure. We’ve been running around all over the place since we got here. Beaches, Caves, Temples, Ruins, Waterfalls, Malls, Markets, Shopping, Food, Food, Food, and Food. We just got back from Trang (in southern Thailand) earlier this week. Before that we were in Bangkok, Chantaburri, and Bangkok. We’re spending more time in Bangkok than I’d really like, but whatever. We’re headed to Pattaya this weekend, then back to Chantaburri, and most likely Chang Mai at the end there. We’re giving Zach the whirlwind sampler plate tour apparently. I’ve been keeping a sketchbook journal thing so when I get back I’ll upload that, which should cover most of the trip so I won’t have to recount everything…

Pre-flight check in

School is out! My “finals” seemed to go well. All we did was talk about our stuff and eat food. Also went out to the Ram afterwards with the VCD kids and got myself a watermelon margarita, if only to get carded. It was pretty tasty. The Senior’s BFA show was pretty cool. We helped set it up and served a little. I wasn’t that impressed by a lot of the stuff. There was some nice work, but I dunno I guess having done a few of the projects they had in the show it sort of kills a bit of the magic.

We are going to Thailand tomorrow!! YAY! So I don’t know how often I’ll be around the internet, there are tons of internet cafes around Bangkok so I should be at least checking email at least a few times (not that I really get real mail, but at least my word of the days). I’m bringing my camera and sketchbook for random stuff and my mom’s camcorder to get some random footage of Thailand that I might be able to use in some project later on once I learn After Effects better.

YAY!!!

attack of the flash animated

this is just too fun not to share: Animator vs. Animation

(It’s nice actually recognizing all those interfaces and everything)

end-o-the-year-lazy

Perhaps the end of the year has been particularly easy because I’ve just been really lazy and tired of school at this point. I just wrote one of the most terrible papers ever for my music class. My Nestle book got put together on Saturday cause I was bored of working on it. I’m just so excited to be going to Thailand next week I can’t really focus on anything here, although I’m kinda looking forward to being able to just work on my Rwanda site tomorrow and not have to think about the other two classes. I was saving it as a treat for myself for when I finished the other stuff, which is kinda weird.

I turned 21 on Sunday. Whee! I ate a lot of tasty sushi and cake instead of getting smashed, which is fine by me. It was a pretty nice and mellow b-day. I’ll make some pina coladas later or something. It does feel nice knowing that people can’t deny me enterance to anything now though. Hooray.

Thailand in less than a week! Tasty food! So excited for the food! So much to do before I leave.

attack of the animated

Just got back from SIFF’s “Attack of the Animated” which was a bunch of short animated films from all over the world. So much awesome stuff and so much experimental stuff, which is really neat to see. I sort of feel like this big sponge trying to take in as much as possible. I want to make cool stuff like that so bad! One of my new life goals: Get an animated short into SIFF. or I suppose any other film festival thing. Maybe a more realistic goal would be to have something by next year’s student film festival.

You can watch one of them: Marvelous Keen Loony Bin
( Apparently she’s a RISD grad, which is cool)

people are jerks.

I am so sad and angry and dissapointed. I got home today to find the side of my wagon SMASHED. Not even like accidentally dinged. Someone who lives in this apartment complex took the manager’s little A-frame sign and smashed it up against the side of my wagon, breaking both the sign and my wagon. I’m gussing they kicked it a lot too the way it’s all fucked up.

That’s just really mean and messed up. Why the hell would someone feel the urge to destroy a little red wagon? It’s not even in anyone’s way. It’s just tucked under the stairs. I really can’t imagine how someone could be such a jerk.

I’m really glad we’re moving next year. Having someone steal my iPod package was one thing. Having someone destroy my beloved red wagon is another. At least who ever stole the iPod probably used it or sold it or something. There is no reason why anyone would benifit from smashing a wagon, other than to prove that they’re jerks. Or I don’t know, maybe they have some sort of deep seated childhood issues with little red wagons. Sigh.
