turkey with salsa
So thanksgiving was nice, a lot of tasty thanksgivingy foods. Angelo was set on making a full menu so he was the head chef of the evening, I was just the sous chef. We had a bunch of people over for dinner and pictionary afterwards. I really like having people over for dinner, it should happen more often. Although maybe with less involved meals.
Even my gerbils got to enjoy thanksgiving, I made them a turkey out of cardboard and they demolished it.
Then on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday we went to the Seattle Salsa Congress where we got our salsa on. Basically 6 hours of workshops each day, plus shows and dancing afterwards (and breaks for food). We didn’t end up doing that much dancing at night (people are actually still there dancing as I type this tonight) because we were so tired from all the stuff during the day. Well, mainly feet. I think I could go a lot longer if I had some better shoes.
It was a lot of fun though and interesting to dance New York style since most of the classes were taught by New Yorkers but I learned L.A. style here in Seattle. Lots of styling and basics and partnering stuff. Definitely needs a lot more work though!
no more unread items
For about 1 minute I had my feed reader down to zero. Of course in the time it took to start writing this there are new items. But for a brief fleeting moment it was in this beautiful state of nothingness, although I cheated and marked entire folders as read (mostly boing boing, music blogs, and flickr photos) to get it down there.
One of the biggest problems with getting your culture/news through a feed reader versus through traditional media outlets like magazines or tv is that you have a constant reminder of exactly how many things you are missing out on. When you read the paper or watch tv you don’t really think about all the other content you are missing out on. Or maybe other people do, I don’t know. I just know that when I pick up a magazine and then pick it up again months later I’m not really all that concerned about all the stuff that happened in between. I’m not going to go buy all the back issues and fill it in because it’s usually not very relevant any more.
I wish my feed reader had some sort of self destructing ability where certain things would cap off as they became irrelevant.
Doodles are up
Clicking the pic above will take you to the flickr slideshow viewer so you can look at all of them on a nice black background. Easier than dealing with lightbox right now. (update: fixed the link)
Back from New York!
I’m back in Seattle! Yay! It feels so good to be home and still on vacation. I just spent forever uploading and tagging a ton of pictures so you should go look at them. You can check out The New York Set or take a look at the Circus Contraption pics I took before I left. Or just go through them all. Anyways, I still have to upload my sketches from the trip, which are more descriptive than anything I could write right now about it all, so those will be coming soon.
